Name: Kristen Mittlestedt ( Maiden Name: Kristen Smith )
Location: {The middle of nowhere} Bluffton, Indiana. Bluffton is a town 45 minutes south of Fort Wayne, IN and 45 minutes north of Muncie, IN. My entire family lives in Muncie, which is where I grew up, so it's great that I don't live to far from them. Bluffton works as a great central location for my current client base.
The World is My Studio. Currently all of my sessions are on location. This is a personal preference. I feel like when there is more space to roam around, boundaries are dropped, and clients (especially children) are less stressed and more at ease. I have nothing against studio photography, and love the look of it in some situations. However personally, I love natural feeling backdrops in which my clients can interact. For newborn sessions I do set up a small indoor studio in the nursery.
I Travel! My client base is spread across Central to Northeastern Indiana, but I love to travel; especially for weddings!
Help soothe my wanderlust and hire me for your destination wedding!
Education: I graduated from Ball State University in May of 2012, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. My emphasis was in photography, and I spent a good chunk of my undergraduate career working in the darkroom with various cameras. I love film photography, and currently I am working at building a darkroom for personal work.
Freetime, What Freetime? I'm just kidding. Although I do dedicate a lot of time to my work, I do find time to relax. I enjoy reading, and British television. I am very family-oriented so normally if there isn't a camera in my hand I am with my family in Muncie or with my husband.
Random Extras
- I bought my first camera with saved up lunch money.
-I have a Pomeranian furchild named Howl (can you guess why?), who we call Sauce because he is saucy.
-My husband, Steven Mittlestedt, works with an emerging game studio in Fort Wayne.
-I focused a TON of my undergraduate work around my mother, and she even inspired my final thesis.
-The book Little Women, is the book that fueled my love of reading in Middle School.
-I'm a horrible cook. I once burnt soup in a slow cooker.
